Thinking of making a change to your home décor this year?

If in the past you've hesitated to overhaul your home’s style because you thought it would be too difficult, you’re in luck. For 2017, the overall trending theme in interior design is simplicity.

“All of my clients are going with ‘less is more,’” says Missy Stewart, owner of Missy Stewart Designs in Houston. “They’re getting rid of all of their clutter. No matter what your style is, it can get cluttered.”

Chantal Devane, owner of Devane Design in Eden Prairie, Minnesota agrees, and says her clients are moving away from the once popular Tuscan, masculine vibe, which included heavier decor and darker colors. “Now they want cleaner lines with industrial accents,” she says. “It’s not about filling every space on the wall or using heavy furniture anymore.”

So what exactly does a “simpler” interior design look like? In a nutshell, keep it natural and neutral.
